Dolly Update May 16th

Hello Readers!
I am Just giving you a bit of a update on what is going on. Sunday I fly out to Toronto for 2 weeks Anime North is next weekend I am so excited! I have been busy getting ready packing and all that stuff that comes with traveling. I love the city of Toronto and I can't wait to get out there and take picture of my dolls traveling around the city.

Also in the news June 4th the 3rd Issue of Punch will be out and My dolls will be in it. I don't know what they decided to publish I just know I am in it. For the ones who read this and don't know what punch is it's the magazine that the local comic book store Amazing Stories puts out it has work from many local artists. It's a complete fan magazine for anyone into comics and pop culture. I sent them tons of photos so I have no Idea what they published. I will find out out the launch party can't wait to see my friends again.

Back to Toronto I will be happy to announce my Dolls Rukia and Thomas will be getting married. No date has been set but when they do it will be all over the blog. They have been waiting months for their wedding. They have been waiting since February to get married but we all had an extended Winter this year and even though winter has been gone the ground is frozen and all the grass looks brown and icky so I figured in Toronto they can have their honeymoon and be married somewhere exotic. Ok I know Toronto is not exotic but for my dolls who only Rukia has been once before it is. So keep a close watch on my blog for there wedding photos.

I can't leave you readers with no doll pictures so here is Some pictures I had sent into Punch and from my dolls Winter Photo shoot. Gene and his Many Girlfriends.
Gene and Moon Sharing a milkshake

Gene is a Mystic Kids 1/4th scale and his full name is Chris Gene Klaus but depending on my Mood Hi name Changes and I mostly just call him Gene.

Moon she was featured on my blog back in January. She is a Impldoll Moon 1/4th scale MSD with normal skin.

Moon and Gene were friends but closer to her departure they got closer but he accepted her departure but not before they had one date just as friends.

Gene and May with a Penguin
Gene and May were boyfriend and girlfriend to begin with. That's how Gene came to live with us. May came into the family to live with her brother Thomas and wanted to see her boyfriend and so he came over on a work visa. I say work visa because I really couldn't afford him at the time so I used him as my model for doll clothes/wigs and other things so he had to earn his keep. Now I don't think I could Live without him. Since this picture they have broken up and are seeing other dolls but they are still good friends.
May is a Mei Bobobie with modified ears to be human. She is 1/4th scale MSD white skin.

Gene and Trill

Gene and Trillium, They are now together and love being together. They are Planning on Getting married one day. Trill isn't sure she wants to go through with it but Gene is fine with that. I have there wedding stuff ready to go it's just a matter of when Trill decides she is ready.

Trillium is she was featured also on my blog back in January she is a Bobobie Ariel 1/4th Scale MSD White Skin.

I know I might seem weird writing stories and personal lives for my dolls but I love to write and make up stories in my books so whats the difference with doing it for dolls? It's all part of the creative process.

I hope you all enjoy my Blog and keep coming back for more stories. Thanks for Reading.

May Update

Sorry I have not updated in a long time. I was waiting till I went to Anime North but that is further away than it seems. I will continue to keep updating from now on. I completed Camp NaNo and I don't have another that has been occupying my time along with Star Trek, I have made some new Trekkie friends and they are great. I have lots of dolls to update and show you all I love them and they all can't wait to be on the site soon.

One thing I have done that is major I got my BJD rings for sale on my Etsy. I am adding new colors all the time and plan to take these to Anime North with me to sell there at my table. Be sure to stay to watch the site I will be updating it as much as I can over the next while and I promise and to post lots of Pictures from Doll North once I go.

Doll of The Day - Byakuya Kuchiki

Byakuya Kuchiki

Byakuya Kuchiki, One doll I spent a lot of time and care into. He is From the anime series Bleach if you didn't know already. One of my favorite Animes of all time and I really do love this doll. I only made him because I always wanted one and My friend she has one of him but he is a 70cm BJD and with all the endless possibilities out there for making dolls I didn't feel right having the same one she had so I made a Small 1/6th scale Obitsu version of him.
Left to Right, Suhei, Byakuya, painted head and unpainted
I started with painting the head. This is a picture of example doll heads I have painted. I enjoyed painting his face. Face-up's are my favorite part of a doll next to getting a new one.

I did make his wig because I wanted it to be perfect when I added his hair acessories and I did not feel I could get the hair right with a wig.

Hand sewn his entire outfit which include:
White Kimono
Black Kimono
Hakama
Captain's Robe

The wig took the longest with making the wig cap and glueing the hair on. and making sure it was all right.

He is forsale but till then he sits in my room with my other dolls.

Kirk and Spock, Going Where No Dolls Bone Before!

Kirk and Spock
Back in November I wanted to have a Kirk and Spock doll. I have always been a lover on big dolls and I figured if i was going to get them i would get the biggest I could. I want looking around for someone who could make doll heads and i found a wonderful artist Dolly's Dolls she does wonderful work and I plan to order more from her in the future. Now you are all probally wondering if I am so creative Why didn't I make the heads myself. Well I can make little 1/6scale heads no problem but the big ones never work for me. I am very happy to have found Dolly. Enough about me lets go on to the creation of Kirk and Spock.
Being a Fan of Star Trek I could not decide what Kirk and Spock I wanted my dolls to be so I found the combined picture of Chris Pine/William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy/Zach Quinto, with a few mods. I went with the pictures but with Leonards nose. Shatners cheeks and Chris Pines smile.
I sent her all the photos and payment and in no time at all she sent me this photo and asked if that were good. I was so happy they looked so good. She used Sculpey Firm. These were huge heads they were big enough enough to hold a 10inch wig I really wanted them to be big.
I loved the heads but something was a Bit off so I had her make Kirk's Cheeks more like Shatners I really Like his nice cheek bones. This is just another picture of her working on the dolls.
Now this is them ready to be painted. I do still wonder what eyes I should have picked for Kirk. Spock had brown no question most Vulcans have brown and so do Nimoy and Quinto. Kirk was hard Shatner has hazel btu Pine has blue. I still question if I made the right Choice but in the end I choose blue for Pine.

Once the heads were done it was the hard choice of picking a body. Well the only ones who I could find affordable for the bodies both were good and in the end I went with the one I thought was more accurate for Kirk and Spock. They both got 68cm Mirodoll bodies. One normal skin and other Tan. I know spock is normally pale but in the light Tan has a greenish tint.

Once the bodies were picked I sent her a message and Dolly Finished painting the heads she did a great job at matching the color with matching the paint and never physically seeing the bodies.

I did not get her to do the face up nothing negative, Just for me Face-up is my job. Even when companies sell me dolls with face-ups I never want to keep them thats my job lol. so after a all of that I just had to wait for the heads in the mail. The Bodies did come sooner but they were ordered first. I just waited. Also the wigs took some time both wigs were ordered from Luts. Now you heard their origin story you can see them all nicely finished going on adventures. They stand 74cm tall and are just the first of many.

Yao The Ice Demon

Yao The Ice Demon
Recently purchased one I received her she was not as I expected. She is still cool and very nice just I was expecting something more bad ass. So I am showing Here the work that was put into her. She is a Resin Soul 1/4 Scale MSD. She has Fleshtone skin, I ordered her from Junky Spot

This is the head as I received it. With the original Face up. I didn't quite care for it. Not saying it's bad, It was very well done Just when it comes to dolls I like to do my own style.

I forgot to take a picture of the hooves unpainted and how they came but (sorry about that). This is the first coat of paint on the hooves. I painted them with Citadel Paints.

One horn is painted and the other is not. This is the first layer. Now what should note is before I painted I looked looked at my wigs and decided what hair color she was going to have. Once I knew the hair color the rest came to me and my Ice Demon was ready to be born.

Well I finished the head, sorry not many pictures but there wasn't much that I did differently. I gave her new white eyebrows but kept the old brows under them so it added depth. I gave her blue eye shadow from my watercolors. Thicken her eyeliner and giving her white and black under lashes. Painted her eyelids silver. Added details to the nose and ears. Lastly painted her lips silver.

Second coat to the hooves make them have no imperfections before I add the 3rd layer.

3rd Layer. Added a Silver layer to the hoof to make it look more like frost. To the fur I added Blue water colors to make them look colder lol.
4-5th layer and final. I added the silver to the fur to make it blend in and at the same time took a thin layer of White and went over. The pictures do no justice to how it really looks. You can see more details in person.
Her nails were an added feature I painted them white then placed the layer of silver on top. and foowed by the sealer. I may not note it but I never forgot the sealer.

She and she is done. I am sorry I forgot to take a picture of the horns but I will tell you what I did. Not much was done to them father the first coat of white. I added a thin layer of white to patch but not make it too thick. For the 3rd layer I added a thin layer of blue water colors so they still look with but with a hint of blue. then I added the sealer.

From there she was done. 4hours later she is finished she is now Yao the Ice Demon. I have her forsale on a few sites I hope she finds a forever home soon.

Doll of The Day - Cyan The Centaur

Cyan The Centaur, That is the name I gave her. She is a Impldoll Trisha young doll 46cm deer body. I really wanted a Centaur and I felt bad I had missed a few other limited editions that were sold by other companies I was sad and tried to find one second hand then I found Trisha. I had to have her. 3 months later I she was home. Then the work had to be done to her. I did order her with the face up outfit and wig. I used the wig for her on my doll Moon. I also did change her face up a bit to get the look I wanted which will all be shown in this step by step guide to her creation.

First I started with her hooves painting on a base coat of brown. Now I paint all my dolls with Citadel Paints I couldn't find there website before. They are acrylic and stay on dolls quite well when dry.
I then applied a base coat of yellow to the fur on the leg. Before I started painting I checked out of my collection of wigs to which one would look the best so I knew what color I wanted her body hair to be.

This is a image of the tail unpainted before any work has been done to it. The same thing I did to the hooves is what I will do to the Tail.
Here is the image of all the hair on the body colored in in the base coat once this was done I could start on  the second coat. you will notice in the picture there is one legs all done I tried this color out one leg to make sure it is want I wanted.

Second coat I painted a dark red on the parts that seemed to be the Thicker parts of her fur. Also you will notice the tail and fur patch are being painted the same way.

For the 3rd coat I used my watercolors. I took the orange paint and painted in the shadows. Yellow is in the groove, red on the point and so in between the two on the sides is where the orange went.

4th layer is not the end. To accent the colors and make it more of the correct color and add more definition. Almost done here.

The 5th layer was the last of the colors. Once dry I took my gold and added a thin layer to it added gold but not taking away from the color. The hooves are done all that was left to do was seal them that is a clear coat of Citadel Gloss Varnish.

I also started painting the horns while I was waiting for the paint to dry on the hooves.

Sorry I do not have any other pictures of the horns being painted I wasn't sure how they would turn out and they were so quick to dry It didn't take me long to paint them. I did paint them with the same layers and pattern as the body. I am not to happy with how they turned out, but they do match. I do not have them in any other pictures because they came without magnets and have to find mine so I can place them on my dolls head.
Final step was the face. Sorry again there is not more pictures but I will tell you what I did. I took paint and thinned it out with water and colored in her ears. (Side note- you can add water to Citadel paints and it will thin them out also placing on and washing it away will add a layer effect). From there I painted the Eyebrows and one layer brown, second dark red and 3rd copper. I also put on a black eyeliner. the last thing was the lips. I painted the lips with a flesh color than pink watercolor layer let it dry then added the gloss. That is how I finished painting the face.

9 hours later Cyan is done. This is the hardest doll I have ever done. I loved working on her I can't wait for my male to show up so I can work on him. She might have been hard, nothing I couldn't do just 4 legs 4 times the amount of work I was not expecting. She is seen in the lower left picture showing off her front hair piece that's is magnetic and one of the accessories I had shown I was working on.
The right picture shows her front covered and the necklace she is wearing. that is a a chainmail one I made it is a red and silver Celtic spike with a Chain Sweat Pea weave.

She was named Cyan after the leader of the Amazons. I had the choice to get the male centaur but I wasn't sure how long this would be available (she still is). So I went with the rarer one. Well she is not the rare as a doll but in Greek Mythology female Centaurs are almost never mentioned. That is how I mean she is rare. I love her and I a happy she is apart of my doll family. Thank you all for reading my blog and  I hope you have A Happy New Year!
